Panther - Doa ?

I don't understand how a 35 ton mech with a top speed of 127 kph (with tweak!) is supposed to be viable. Has PGI looked at this problem?
I mean, if we're going to introduce new mechs, at least let's not have them DOA.

But I will agree that this does not bode well for our little buddy the Panther. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel in the form of quirks!(they just upped the SMN's top speed and mobility, he now goes 93.something kph and is rather peppy!)
Also i think the Panther is designed for that ER sniper role so i dont really see this being a big issue, he isnt a knife fighter and i dont think PGI is looking to create another broken IS light to add to their already insane arsenal of lights mechs.
This will be a light mech the clan lights can actually tussle with on their own...

It'll be an interesting challenge. I'll be able to see how much I've forgotten (probably a lot) since my days of driving stock Commandos, which are what I cut my teeth on in this game.

1- It's fast plenty enough for it's role of sniper.
2- The KFX has an engine cap of 180, and it's doing just fine.

The Panther is slow, sniping, and fast enough to get away from most heavies and mediums. If you're going to try going toe-to-toe with another light, you're likely going to die. Stand still for too long? dead.
This is true for all lights as you should never fight inside your weight class unless they're disadvantaged. I'm looking forward to the Urbie too because it's not supposed to be a great mech, it's a mech that serves a purpose.

This is obviously why people in trial light mechs or only got basic on light mechs suck and have a pay gate to buy converts to get GXP onto the light mech, mmm yes?
